Marathon’s sole purpose is to provide exceptional, progressive and cost-effective fitness, wellness, athletic training, and outpatient rehabilitation through personalized care that emphasizes patient education and prevention of future injury.
Marathon Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine was founded in 2004 by physical therapists with a the vision of an environment where exceptional quality and broad-based out-patient physical therapy merges seamlessly with programs in our clinics and surrounding communities to develop meaningful relationships that exist separate from or in addition to an injury or illness-related episode.
Marathon truly exists to be “Keeping you well throughout the race of life”, whether that “race” is keeping up with your grandchildren, hiking Mount Washington, having the greatest garden in the neighborhood, or competing in your first or 101st triathlon. Marathon has an evolving and dynamic menu of services to help at every point along the way and always welcomes feedback on additional ways we can develop to better serve you.
Part of Marathon’s identity is also the value we place on professional development, responsibility, and education. Marathon provides annual membership dues for all clinicians in their respective professional organizations: American Physical Therapy Association, National Athletic Trainer Association, and American College of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Association, National Association of Massage Therapists. Members of the Marathon team are involved to varying degrees in these organizations in an effort to advance their respective professions.
Marathon provides paid time off and a tuition stipend for full and part-time employees to attend continuing education courses and conferences according to their interests and areas of specialty, as well as serving as the only New England host-site for courses of the highly regarded North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT). Our clinicians and training staff are engaged in teaching at area colleges and universities, mentoring and clinical education relationships for students of physical therapy and athletic training, and interdisciplinary initiatives involving education and advancing clinical practice. All of this combines to draw a certain type of clinician to Marathon, and it is those special clinicians that make Marathon so effective in meeting the needs of the individuals and teams with whom we work.
